Sight Word Sentence Scrambles and FREEBIE
Hi everyone! I hope the beginning of spring has been enjoyable and that you all had a wonderful and relaxing spring break!
I am always trying to find new ideas to help my students learn sight words and at this point of the school year I am really trying to find new hands-on activities that incorporate sight words into short sentences.
These Sight Words Reading, Writing, and Sentence Scrambles have 50 different sight words included. There are 2 books for each sight word. There is a mini book and a large book. The large book can be used as a book or individual pages. Both books have the same sentences, but different formats for you to choose the one that works best for you. You can also use both books of course!
I find myself using both books and you will read more on how I do that below.
Each book has a focus sight word. There are 5 sentences per sight word and for students to read, write, and unscramble. The sentences also incorporate other common sight words.
Step 2: Write the Sentence.
Step 3: Cut the scrambled words.
An additional independent reading page is included for each sight word that has all of the sentences from the book on one page. This is great to use to check for fluency, understanding, to use during intervention, and more!
As the students read each sentence, I color in the check mark to show that they have read the sentence independently. We love to celebrate when they read the independent reading page on their own!
These Sight Word Reading, Writing, and Sentence Scramble Books will have your students working on so many skills at once. They will be practicing their sight words, reading sentences, writing sentences, and unscrambling words to make sentences all in a hands-on and interactive way! Here is what others are saying:
What I have really enjoyed and noticed about these books is that students are not only learning their sight words, but they get to practice reading and writing sight words in sentences. They also are developing correct conventions of a sentence, gaining confidence, fluency, and independence with their reading skills!

I am so excited to share with you something that I have been working on over the past few months... Sight Words Reading, Writing, and Sentence Scrambles!
Each book has a focus sight word. There are 5 sentences per sight word and for students to read, write, and unscramble. The sentences also incorporate other common sight words.
Here is an example of the small sight word book.
Step 1: Read the Sentence.Step 4: Glue the words in the correct order to build the sentence.
If they are having trouble reading the sentences independently, I have them go back and work on the same sight word, but using the book that I have not already used with them. For example, if they completed the small book for the sight word they can work on the large book. I tend to use the large book as individual pages rather than a book. The different format makes the activity not seem the same as using the small book and still keeps the students engaged.
Here is an example of the large book. (These can be stapled together or used as individual pages)
