Eric Litwin's Newest Book and CONTEST!!!

Eric Litwin. If that name does not ring a bell for you then these next 3 words will... Pete the Cat!!!
I am completely honored to get to work with the renown author of one of my favorite book series: Pete the Cat!!! He is a #1 New York Times Best Selling Author who loves to combine music and literacy together.

He has always been one of my classrooms most favorite authors! He makes reading and literacy so much fun for students! His writing has also given my students confidence, independence, and a love for reading with his contagiously fun books!

Eric recently got in touch with me to share about his newest book series, 'The Nuts' and more specifically about his newest book in the series called 'The Nuts: Sing and Dance in Your Polka-Dot Pants'.
If you loved the first 4 Pete the Cat Books, you will absolutely fall in love with the 'Nut Family'. Eric described to me his newest book and I was loving everything about it! But when I got my hands on the book, it was even better than he described!!
He expressed to me how his passion and focus in his books has always been about early literacy and making learning fun. He completely has done it again with this new series!

This book, 'The Nuts: Sing and Dance in Your Polka-Dot Pants' combines music, rhyming, repetition, response, and FUN! The illustrations are adorable, hilarious, and eye catching! Hazel the Nut wants her family to sing and dance with her, but they are just too busy. So she finds someone else in her family to join along. (I don't want to spoil who it is!)

One of my favorite parts of the book is the very end where there is a line disco dance called The Polka-Dot Pants Dance! Yes, it is as cute as it sounds and as fun as it sounds! Included in the end of the book are illustrations of Hazel the Nut showing you how to sing and do the line dance! You can also download the song and watch the video of Eric Litwin doing the dance himself!! Eric is actually the one who choreographed the dance!
What is even more exciting is that Eric is having a contest that you don't want to pass up!! He is having a contest in which YOU make a video of the Polka-Dot Pants Dance!

Little Red Riding Hood

One of my favorite units during the year are my Fairy Tale Units. I just love reading the classic fairy tales that I remember my teacher reading to me when I was younger! I have a few fairy tale units that I have made, but knew I wanted to make more! Little Red Riding Hood was one of the next fairy tales that I knew I wanted to work with! Number Hats!

I LOVE teaching numbers!! At the beginning of the school year, I do a HUGE focus on numbers. I teach all about one number each week and really like to break each number down. I like to teach my students about how you can show a number in a variety of ways! I decided to create something that would celebrate all of the students new learning about a number. I have made Number Hats 1-10 !! I plan on having my students make these hats after we have learned about a number all week. They will be a fun, stylish, effective, and super cute way to celebrate our new learning! These Number Hats are FULL of different ways to show a number!
