Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Hi everyone! At the beginning of the school year, I LOVE reading the story, 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. My students always love this story and it is a story that really 'sticks' with them throughout the year. This is a story I remember my teacher reading to me as well :)

I have always found this to be a great story to begin teaching my students about different story elements. In this story we focus a lot on characters, setting, sequencing, and more!

I just finished creating my 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' Mini Unit and am so excited to share with you some of the activities! There are 7 activities included (math and literacy) and they are hands-on, interactive, and lots of fun! There are anchor charts and crafts too!

Name Activities

Setting up the classroom is very exciting and can be quite overwhelming, but there is always one thing on my mind that seems to take FOREVER to come! I don't know about you, but I literally can't wait for the second I get my hands on my class list! As teachers, we LOVE to label, label, label, label, and did I mention LABEL?!?! As soon as I look through my class list I officially get into GO mode to get labels created and placed on what seems like 100+ different areas in my classroom. For some reason it makes me feel like my classroom is more ready to go and I feel so much more organized when everything is labeled! I am sure I sound nuts, but maybe there is someone out there that feels the same! Another thing I absolutely LOVE about getting my class list is that I am able get a head start on creating my different Name Activities for each student. More Thanksgiving Fun!

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL and RELAXING  Thanksgiving!! We had a fun couple days finishing up our Thanksgiving unit. Here is a look at our super short week: Monday We practiced making groups of 5. We played a number game where students had to say a number and see if the turkey was hiding behind it. We dressed up as pilgrims!!  We read a very cute story called 'The Thanksgiving Surprise'. We wrote about where we would hide a turkey. (I will hide the turkey in the bath tub.) (I will hide the turkey in a pan.) (I will hide the turkey in my trampoline.) (I will hide the turkey in the bus.) We made pumpkin pie in a cup! I had some good cooks! We made this out of pumpkin spice instant pudding, graham crackers, and cool whip.  Yum!! We graphed whether or not we like the pumpkin pie. We recorded our data. Tuesday We started the day with practicing one-to-one correspondence. Today, we dressed up as Indians!! We made a vest, necklace, and headband. We played a fun turkey sight...
