All About Spring and Plants!

It is really starting to feel like spring... finally!!! The weather is starting to warm up and this week was all about spring and plants! I sure do love spring and especially the warmer weather! We had a lot of fun with different spring and plant activities this week and everyone got to plant their very own bean seed! We are so excited to check them everyday and can't wait to observe the different stages! Come take a peek at our spring and plants week! Monday We read a few nonfiction books about spring and made an anchor chart about what we feel, smell, see, and hear in the spring. We planted our very own bean seeds today. It was so much fun and my students loved getting to use spray bottles to get the paper towel wet. They did such a great job at setting up their seed bag all on their own!    I rolled up our curtains, opened up the blinds, and taped each been seed bag to our window to get as much sunlight as possible.    We also started to work on our bean plant ob...

A Week of Easter Fun!

This week was FULL of Easter activities! We had lots of fun with bunnies, chicks, eggs, baskets, and carrots! We worked on this Easter Fun Unit a week after Easter this year, but I guess it is better late than never! Right?? :) Come take a peek at our Easter Fun Week! Monday This week we worked on decomposing numbers. We practiced this by using eggs in baskets. I like to show them how to decompose numbers with eggs by starting with all of their eggs on the first basket and writing an addition equation to go with it. Then they slide 1 egg over to the other basket and write the new addition equation. They keep doing this until all of their eggs are in the 2nd basket.        After we practiced decomposing a few numbers on the baskets, I had them decompose the numbers 3, 4, and 5 on their own in a flip book.      We read the story, 'The Best Easter Eggs Ever' by Jerry Smath. I stopped reading right before the Easter Bunny chose his favorite decorated egg....
